JOB DESCRIPTION

The Tax Senior will work closely with the Tax Associate(s) and the Tax Manager, in preparing Federal and State Income Tax Returns for private equity fund and venture capital fund clients.  The tax returns that are prepared are predominately partnership income tax returns.  In addition,  there will be other periodic reporting and filing obligations which clients may be subject to, such as foreign reporting and state nonresident withholding.  It is expected that the Tax Senior will have regular contact with clients regarding deliverables and other issues.  Self reading, as well as, attending in-house training sessions will be imperative to help build upon the candidate’s existing tax technical foundation.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect necessary information and prepare work papers to firms standards
  • Utilize tax software in preparing federal tax returns, state tax returns, and other filings
  • Review work papers and tax returns prepared by Tax Associate(s) and provide constructive feedback
  • Researching and documenting tax positions under the direction of the tax manager
  • Maintain and update the necessary tasks in File in Time (tax tracking/scheduling software)
  • Work on special projects as assigned
  • Mentor the Tax Associate(s) in conjunction with the Tax Manager
  • Assist the Tax Manager in short and long term team planning
QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years’ experience in the tax industry
  • BS in Accounting or related field (MS preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with RIA GoSystems preferred, but not required
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time efficiently, work well under pressure and meet necessary deadlines as assigned
  • Team player willing to put in extra time and diligence during seasonal peaks in work load
